Mrachek Middle School students and staff etched their names into history by signing a steel beam, which will become part of the school’s new building. The beam will act as a time capsule in honor of all Mrachek students and staff present during construction. Mrachek was a joint venture of RB+B and HCM.
Kinard C.A.R.E.S. is an environmental leadership program at Kinard Middle School in Fort Collins, CO. Kinard is a USDE Green Ribbon School Award Winner and is currently the most efficient building in the State of Colorado (20-25 kBtu/sq.ft./yr.) Wind powered electricity, geothermal heating/cooling, natural daylighting, and a high-performing building envelope all make Kinard unique.

The wonderful thing about a big
birthday is the chance to look back on our history, appreciate our
present, and look forward to the plans we have for our future.
This year's focus was on internal cross-cutting initiatives that aligned with the OnePlanet Living Framework, including communication, education, our Building Instruction Manual, and Consultant Contracts.
In it's fifth year of publication and with five years of data tracking to draw upon, the 2015 SMS is able to really document the progress the firm has made in each initiative area.
2014 focused on developing and implementing firm-wide sustainability goals, tracking/reporting project data, and broadly engaging staff in sustainability efforts.
2013 was the third year documenting the firm's SMS progress. The highlight of 2013 was celebrating the firm's 60th anniversary and also the year our firm achieved it's second LEED Platinum certification for a project.
In our first year of implementation, RB+B's Sustainability Management System has been a valuable tool to help us achieve our goals of designing and operating the firm in a sustainable manner.
